about:

Thank you for stopping by line x shape x colour!
My name is Gemma, and I am an Australian textile designer, photographer, traveller, day-dreamer, and a whole lot of other things.

line x shape x colour is all about creating and being inspired. Whether it be making something, travelling to far-away lands or listening to some awesome tunes - this is a place where it all collides. At the moment, I am mainly sharing lots of travel photography whether it be overseas or local journeys but try and mix it up every now and then with a DIY or interiors project.

I'm always being asked questions from fellow bloggers or readers, so here are a few frequently asked questions:

what camera gear do you use?

My camera of choice is the Canon 5D mII with the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM, Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 USM and Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lenses. You can read more about my gear, travelling with it, plus some photo-taking tips here.

what is your day-job exactly?

I currently work for a textile wholesaler, designing home textile products for most of Australia's major retailers. I love it!

where and what did you study?

I studied at Sydney's College of Fine Arts, which is part of the University of New South Wales, where I completed my Bachelor of  Design (hons) majoring both in textile and graphic design.

how do you get to travel so much?

It's only in past couple of years that I've been able to really get into travelling - it hasn't always been like this! My husband Andrew and I have a real passion for travel, so we definitely make allowances for it. We completed a large trip in 2011 (four months) and also get to travel internationally for work. We truly believe travel enriches our lives and will jump at any opportunity for an adventure.

do you have a favourite country?

This is a really hard question, as I honestly love everywhere we have been, but as of right now some favourites Uzbekistan, Portugal, Lebanon, Turkey and Laos - I could keep going ... there hasn't been anywhere I have disliked.
